A new experience and
a special occasion for Charter For You was hosting
a wedding on Saturday 24th June. After a stormy week,
the weather had settled down to be warm with a light
breeze. In the late morning, one of our Bavaria 36’s,
‘Vis’, departed from Largs Marina with
the bridegroom and family and our Bavaria 44, ‘Pamina’,
departed with the bride and her family, complete with
decorations and bunting.
‘Pamina’ anchored stern-to-stern with
the yacht owned by Sailing For The Disabled
in the Isle of Mann, ‘Pride of Mann II’,
in Kames Bay, just by Rothesay on Great Cumbrae. Another
four yachts rafted up to create the floating venue
for the wedding with, all-in-all, at least 60 guests.

The marriage ceremony was
performed by the local registrar on ‘Pamina’
and, once the couple were duly pronounced man and
wife, fog-horns were sounded! Charter For You’s
Chief Instructor, Bill Hagen, served champagne and
delicious nibbles – when not sailing, he’s
busy running the Stables
Restaurant in Balloch which he and his family
own!
After due congratulations and a toast or two, the
fleet of yachts returned to Largs and the couple returned
to host their reception and evening party at the Chart
Room at Kip Marina.
A splendid day was had by all! The bride and groom
have thanked everyone who managed to come along and
made this the tremendously special day that it was.
As they said “A complex wedding such as this
could only happen where friends step in and fix things
as they invariably can go out of kilter .... you all
played a major part - and you may have thought it
was unnoticed due to the apparent military precision
of the proceedings...!”
The team at Charter For You wishes the newlywed couple
all the best for their future life together!
